Pongal Celebration – 13/01/2026 St. George’s Arts & Science College cordially organised the Pongal Day Celebration on 13 January 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in the College Grounds. The programme was organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) with the objective of celebrating India’s rich cultural heritage and instilling values of gratitude and respect for nature and agriculture.The celebration was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Mr. J. Wesley Hudson, Headmaster of St. George’s Anglo Indian Hr. Sec. School, In his Chief Guest’s Address, he eloquently spoke on the history and significance of Pongal celebration in the lives of students’. His inspiring address underscored the role of education in nurturing socially responsible individuals rooted in cultural values. As part of the festivities, various traditional competitions including Rangoli and Pongal making and games (Pot breaking, Tug of war, Water filling) were conducted, creating an atmosphere of ecstasy, enthusiasm, and healthy competition among myriad department students. These activities encouraged teamwork, creativity, and active student engagement, thereby enriching the celebratory spirit of the occasion. ED Cell has taken initiative to cultivate the spirit of entrepreneurship amongst students by encouraging them to put stalls during celebration. The Pongal Day Celebration concluded on a joyful and memorable note, fulfilling its objective of celebrating cultural tradition.
